Thread: Prototype Review [PC]

Prototype is a single player, open-world action game in the style of Crackdown or The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. You play as a man gifted with superhuman powers and the option to go most anywhere you like and do most anything you want once you get there. It's sandbox gaming with a heavy focus on pure action.
Already announce in E3 2007, the highly anticipated game "Prototype" was release on June 9th after a 1 year delay. Was it worth all that waiting ?

The Story
You are Alex Mercer so what does it means ? At first you do not know as you wake up donated supernatural powers and in a city full of chaos. The game evolve as you intend to know who you are and what happened.
The story is told thought memories taking advantage of your capability to absorb memories and in a narrative style as you are telling someone we don't know what you did in the last 18 days (Since the infection started).
All these elements created a thrilling story and as usual in a thriller everything will be clear in the end.
In my opinion the story has the power to be filmed. It will be and horror, thriller, action movie.

The Gameplay
The good:
- There are 31 Primary missions in this game and none of the missions are the same. Repetitive in not in this game's dictionary, even if there are similar objectives but the way to achieve it is different.
- Different ways to finish a mission. in almost most of the mission you have multiple way to beat it it depends of your style of playing.
- Huge number of abilities. You can be anyone, get in any vehicle and perform any acrobats. Alternate the use of them in a mission and you will achieve extreme fun.
- Challenging game but not impossible. we cannot say in any word that you will pass it without having difficulties and a lot you will not loose your nerves playing it. To pass most of the missions it is only a matter of time before you finish it.
- Huge number of side quests make this game even longer, it can reach the 20h if you play them all. Plus you are somehow obliged to play them to gain extra EP so you can unlock extra powers.

The Bad:
- Bad Controls. if you are playing with a controller like me you will have difficulties doing some of the attacks and this because of the bad controls, like there are some that require to hit B and X at the same time (360 controller) . In addition and contrary to the speed rhythm of the game and fights some attacks require slowness so you need to stop for a bit look at the controller to know it you making it write them make it, so during that time you will be dead.

It could be better:
- There is a lot of focus on speed in this game do that the fighting system looks a bit weak. in most fights you will have to run, jump perform jumping attacks and quick ones, but you will never think about standing in front of an enemy and attack him and this because there is no a big fighting system like in god of war or DMC plus there is lack of deference and counter attack. The most efficient weapon if your speed.

Other Things
The music of the game was good but it suffers in the character voice witch was low so if often distract from the story.
The graphics and effects where superb and also so light on the system.

Verdict
Just add the DMC's fighting system and correct a bit the controls and you will have a true legendary game.
I strongly recommend everyone playing this game, i give it 8.7/10
